Laptop is an MSI GE66 Raider 10SF with an RTX 2070.

I've noticed on my laptop it's not using the GPU. It keeps throwing up a code 31 and if not that, a code 45. I'm guessing the GPU died? I've tried wiping and a DDU, as well as trying to download from Nvidia but it says there's no GPU detected. Issues popped up when I went to Windows 11.

Windows says:

"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required fie this device. The specified request is not a valid operation for the target device"

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

I'm guessing the gpu died?
Open up GPU-Z and see if any fields are showing up with zero(0)'s.

Issues popped up when I went to windows 11.
So you migrated from Windows 10? If so, did you perform an upgrade to Windows 11 using the internal upgrade path? if so, recreate your bootable USB installer for Windows 11, then install the OS in offline mode. Install all drivers that are necessary for your laptop while in offline mode, in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Have you checked to see if the laptop is pending any BIOS updates?

So I opened it up and saw that some of the thermal pads prevented a cold plate from making contact. So I think it's cooked. Waiting on some thermal paste since I just moved but I'm pretty sure it's dead.

Can't upload the other photo but it says no gpu or memory clock on sensors. Still code 31.

So I have some good news. After I removed the thermal pads causing issue and repasted. I managed to actually have it connect and was able to update the drivers. Thankfully it didn't cook itself and disconnected even after using it awhile under intense heat. Once I had installed the new drivers it's working again :). Thanks for the help!
