Question Weird GPU behaviour after resetting the settings in Nvidia Control Panel ?

Hello,

I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D due to performance issues with ARK: ASA. After the upgrade, the game ran well with my RTX 3080 — I was getting around 90–120 FPS with 100% GPU usage and 40–60% CPU usage.

However, I encountered a separate issue, and one suggested "solution" was to reset the NVIDIA Control Panel settings (which did not fix the problem). After the reset, my GPU usage is now pending between 50–90%, CPU usage is at 50–70%, and overall FPS has dropped with more frequent stuttering.

I have changed the Power Management Mode to “Prefer maximum performance” and set Texture Filtering to “Performance”, but still the same issue.

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually install the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Might want to make sure you're on the latest BIOS version as well as the latest chipset driver prior to doing the above.

I did all this. Problem is still the same. GPU usage is 60-80% and lots of stutters. Might just be shaders but i am not sure. The VRAM usage is also 500mb less. Might be nothing though. I'm going to do some more testing. Thanks for the help
