Hello,

I recently built a new PC and the PSU is very loud even while under no load. It sounds like the PSU fan is running at 100%, there is absolutely no way this can be normal. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to remedy this or to simply try to RMA it? Thanks!

Specs:
OS: Windows 11 Pro
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: GeForce RTX 3070ti
Mobo: X870E AORUS PRO ICE
RAM: 64GB
PSU: Corsair rm1000x Shift

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

If the PSU's being starved of fresh, cooler, ambient air, the fans will be running as the PSU needs it to. Make and model of your case? How is the PSU oriented in said case? Before you go through an RMA process, you might want to relocate to another wall outlet in the same room. If that doesn't help, relocate to another room.

You might want to also take a video with audio of your PSU's noise and pass it along for us to see. Host said video on a site akin to Imgur and then pass on a link to said video. You can then use as it evidence for your seller/Corsair during the RMA process, if that's the route to take.

BIOS version for your motherboard? Also, see if setting your power plan to Power Saver helps.

A small update: when I came to check on the noise I noticed that my husbands PC was making the same loud noise as mine has been. His build is the same, but his PSU is the Corsair rm1000x, not the shift version like mine.

If it is relevant, we both have the iCue Link Titan 360 RX LCD CPU cooler and six additional iCue Link RGB fans installed.

Power Saving mode made my PC go to sleep, so the noise stopped.
