Hi all,

When I travel I end up using some public wifi connections in hotels and what not. I have a Proton VPN account that I use when I am using these public wifi connections.

I just got a new Asus Laptop (model G815LW) and I am running Windows 11 Pro with all the latest updates. My wifi driver is also the latest version available on the ASUS website.

I have Proton set up to auto load and connect when Windows boots up. Now, when this happens while I am hardwired to an ethernet cable, everything works as normal. I have not been able to trigger this issue with either net yet. However, when I boot up windows and Wifi is the main connection, Proton loads as windows boots, Proton loads and tells me it has successfully connected, and everything appears to be running normally. But when I open my browser and try and load a website or check my email via my email client, nothing loads. I have to disconnect the VPN, and even sometimes completely close out the VPN app before I get a connection. I can then reopen Proton and connect with it, and it works fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the connections are not working correctly right at boot up over wifi?

Verify that only one network adapter, either wired or wireless, is enabled.

Not both network adapters at the same time.

I.e., if wired environment then use the wired network adapter. If wireless, then use the wireless network adapter.

Do not rely on the laptop to make the determination.
