Hello,

I have been experiencing some strange issues with my PC since I have built it. Whenever I boot into my OS after entering the BIOS, my PC runs incredibly slow. When I first built the PC, it had Windows 10 installed, and the issue caused things like moving windows around and typing text to run slow. Recently, I have updated to Windows 11, and the issue seems amplified, with the PC taking 3-6 minutes to boot into Windows, freezing several times in the process, and occasionally bluescreening while attempting to boot.

This slow boot time/bluescreen issue only occurs when I boot into Windows right after entering the BIOS; if I just power on the system normally, the PC runs fine. This issue also seems to only occur when my graphics card is installed. The issue does not occur when I boot into Safe Mode. While the issue does not normally affect me, it is abnormal and annoying whenever I need to change BIOS settings. Any additional troubleshooting steps I should take before I confirm that it is an issue with my graphics card? My PC specs are:
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • Motherboard: ASRock B650E Taichi Lite
  • RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 2x16GB DDR5-6400 CL32
  • Storage:
    • HP EX920 256GB M.2-2280 PCIE 3.0 X4 NVME SSD (Windows installed on this drive)
    • Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB M.2-2280 PCIE 3.0 X4 NVME SSD
  • Graphics Card: XFX Speedster QICK 319 Core Radeon RX 6750XT
  • Sound Card: Asus Xonar DGX
  • PSU: Corsair HX850 Platinum
  • OS: Windows 11 Home Version 24H2

You have a high Performance Gaming PC. I really hope you can find the issues keeping you from enjoying your PC. Maybe your OS SSD is failing?? Did you perform a drive sanitation and a CLEAN install of Windows 11 and did you reset the CMOS to default the motherboard settings and updated the BIOS before installing Windows 11? Once the OS is installed you should install all Windows 11 updates and when you are at the in WIndows 11 desktop install your Motherboard Chipset drivers and GPU drivers in the Windows 11 environment. Please reply as there are people here who CAN help you resolve the issues. Just offering suggestions from an old school Gamer and PC builder. I wish you Success.

Thanks for your reply. I did a clean install of Windows 11; however, I also used an autounattend.xml file to remove unwanted programs and to make a local account. I am not sure if I performed a drive sanitation; I instead deleted the old partitions from the boot drive and made a new partition via the Windows setup. I did not reset CMOS nor did I update my BIOS prior to installing Windows 11. However, my BIOS is updated to the latest version (3.20). I did install all available Windows 11 updates and GPU drivers. I just installed the chipset drivers; however, this did not resolve the issue.

Check cpu and gpu temperatures.
What cpu cooler are you using?

Can you show a photo of your system with side panel removed?

Also show photo of BSOD.
It usually contains relevant information about problem, that caused it.

CPU seems to be around 45-50°C, with occasional spikes to 65°C when Windows is loading. GPU seems steady around 45°C. I am using a Noctua D-15S.

I do not have any photos of the BSOD; however, I do have the dump files.

Idle temps are good.
What temps do you get at load?

Can you show screenshots from CPU-Z - memory and spd sections?
Run memtest86, to test ram.

Diagnose your SSDs.
For Samsung drive - Samsung Magician.
HP may not have any SSD tool software. See, what CrystalDiskInfo says about it.
The CPU temperature is around 77°C with CineBench 2024. The GPU temperature is 62°C and the hotspot temperature is 85°C with Furmark 2.

Memtest86 shows no errors. Here are the screenshots from CPU-Z:

Samsung Magician shows that the drive is in good health and no errors showed up during the short diagnostic scan. CrystalDiskInfo shows that the HP drive is in good health.

I'll also add that the issue still persists whether or not the XMP profile is enabled.
