Question external monitor question

i have a 144hz laptop, and all of the external monitors i find are all above 144hz, if i connect the external monitor to my laptop, can i have it use 144hz ?

most of the monitors i find are at a minimmum 180hz and i can never get to that amount of fps when playing new games so i wont ever be able to use the external monitor for its higher hz?

i read online that if the monitor your going to buy has VRR or free sync it doenst matter what the HZ is for the monitor is that true

Freesync is specific to AMD similar how gsync is specific to nvidia
Then you have adaptive sync.
If you can even display 144 on a monitor will depend on the type of port you have on the LT.

and the montior is VG27AQ3A
but my laptop specs are,
specs:
3080 laptop gpu 8GB
i7-11800H

Do you think that is enough for 1440p 120fps? on New games?
