I've had this build for a few years and the last year this issue has been happening while gaming the screen will black can still hear sound and all the fans on the GPU go to max. I've read and read and read, I can't find a definitive answer on what might be causing it. I suspect its something to do with the 12vp cable and how the PSU doesn't have an actual dedicated 12vp 8 pin slot and the cable splits into 3 pc ie cables that plug into the back of the PSU one side and just one cable into the GPU on the other. I've been so frustrated I hardly even use the thing anymore I've never had a problem with a PC I've built in 15 years like this one. I really chalk it up to Nvidias lazy roll out of the 12vp cable. When I got the parts list it was still up in the air on what would work. People were complaining about burnt cables, PSU's that didn't supply the required voltage or wattage but still claimed their PSU could power the GPU. It's the most annoying time I've ever had making a parts list on the site, the whole situation over this last year has made me never want to buy Nvidia again. If anyone has a fool proof way to track down what the issue that is causing this I'd be grateful. I really feel like I'm going to have to buy a new case and PSU and rebuild the PC in it. I suspect its the PSU causing this and I can't find a SFF PSU replacement with a dedicated 12vp rail so I can use a GPU power cable with one head on each side instead of the stupid split into 2-3 plugs.

An advice if you want to motivate people to help you out: also list your parts in the message, don't only paste a link.

The PCIe to 12vhpwr adapter usually works just fine. I've never heard about problems like yours caused by the adapter itself. If no connector is melting and the card works then there's no reason the PC would crash because of it. However, your PSU is really on the limit for a 4080, especially that you also have a 13600k which can draw a lot of power. How old is the PSU? An old 750W may no longer be able to sustain the power needed by your system.

Your mini tower could also cause problems. The mesh is good to catch big dust particles but the micro particles can still go through. Do you clean the inside of the PC (especially the GPU heatsink and the AIO radiator) with compressed air on a regular basis? How are your temperatures while gaming?

Also, your little 120 mm AIO is absolutely not sufficient to cool down this CPU. Yes your case is "open" but you still need to get the heat out of the liquid and this radiator is not enough to do that. As mentioned above, what are your temperatures?

And what Nvidia drivers are you currently using?

Current Nvidia drivers, Its happened for a year now no matter what drivers I was using. As far as the CPU I've used cinebench to stress test it quite a bit and the temps always stay in the 75 range maybe touches 80 once or twice. The GPU has better temps than the CPU its usually in the upper 60s to mid 70s range. The PSU is as old as the rest of the computer I bought it all at the same time and for 2 years no problems then this last year it just keeps randomly happening during games. That AIO was literally the only one I could fit in the case I could always go with a basic box fan cooled one though I guess. I've never seen temps go higher than 80 though. I clean the tower out regularly and I have cleaned it out prior to making this post. I found some information claiming that intel drivers on the integrated CPU could be causing the problem I get the error message in event viewer when it happens "the igccservice service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely manner". I've downloaded the current driver for my Integrated HD 770 and it hasn't happened....yet...but I'm not holding my breath that was the issue. I also read some kind of sensor maybe missing in the cablemod cable I'm using for my GPU and I bought an updated version that has the temp sensor built in and its 2 8 pin PCIE cables instead of 3 like the old one I have, so I'm going to try that too, as I said though since updating those drivers it hasn't happend for a day.
