I had this weird thing happen a couple of months ago. My 4-year-old system that had never given me a problem started malfunctioning and then stopped posting altogether. It was a 5600X and 4x8GB 3200MHz mounted on the board mentioned in the title.

After numerous tests, I determined that the CPU had died, so I bought a brand new 5700X. But then I was unable to make the system boot with the 4 sticks of RAM, even though all of them worked fine individually, and as stated, they had worked together for 4 years without a single issue. At that point I ended up buying 2 new 16GB modules and the problem was solved.

Now I find myself needing to upgrade the system again because I started working with some tools that demand more than 32GB, but I’m afraid the same issue is going to happen and I’ll be unable to boot the system with all 4 DIMMs.

The sticks involved are Kingston KF432C16BB/16.

What do you guys think?

The higher the rated frequency, the tighter the timings, the more dimm slots that are occupied, the more stressed out the CPU's Internal Memory Controller(IMC) will be.
Age and voltage also plays a factor.
Silicon lottery is in the mix too; generally speaking, no 2 IMCs can handle the same settings.

Best to just run 2 dimm kits. If for some reason, you can't acquire enough ram from 2 dimms, then do not aim for high frequency kits, or just never turn on EXPO.

Hey thanks, I'm not doing any OC, and the modules speed is just 3200Mhz.
I think I'm gonna give it a try since financially I don't have other option right now and I really need to increase the system memory.

2667 over four sticks for AM4*.

This is why I discourage the lay person from overclocking RAM - you cannot just dial in a number and expect it to play nice - even an official “XMP” profile can be dicey.

This has been true at least as far back as the Phenom II x6 CPUs.

Any EXPO profile over default is pretty much an overclock.
3200 is easy for Ryzen 5000; the 'sweet spot' was considered 3600 C16 on 2 dimms, and that's not gonna work on 4 dimms. Folks had to turn it way down to around 2933, give or take, to keep it stable long term.
