Hey just wanted to ask for help, earlier my pc wasn't crashing or restarting randomly
then on this random night my pc decides to randomly restart for no reason,
I did some troubleshooting and found that whenever I had my XMP enabled it would restart the pc

what makes me think is that I've never had this problem after all these years of using XMP why did it decide to not work now?
could it be my ram is dying? or do I need to update my bios?

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
RAM: Crucial ballistix 2x8 3200 mhz rated
MOBO: MSI b450m mortar max

Get memtest86+ and boot it directly from USB. There are some test that don't really work correctly when running under windows.

You likely will see issues if any in the first pass but you can run it overnight just to be sure. If it shows issue maybe you can find a better manual setting rather than just using XMP. If it shows no issues then the problem is not as simple as just a memory issue.

Your key problem is no matter what the memory manufacture says there are no guarantees when you overclock memory (xmp is overclock). You have the memory controller on the CPU, the motherboard itself, and then finally the memory. It really is completely unpredictable if you can get any kit of memory to overclock. Some combinations have issue even when you are not overclocking.

Both ddr4 and ddr5 memory have been around for so long now the manufacture methods have improved so most memory actually functions at is XMP rate but it is still overclocked.

A added note maybe just don't worry about. Memory clock speed does not really matter except for some very narrow cases. For most things you can not even detect the difference
That’s not true. For Ryzen CPUs it has a huge effect on the 1% low FPS in gaming.

By the way, it's not called XMP for AMD boards, it's either EXPO or DOCP depending on the platform and the manufacturer. XMP is for Intel. The distinction is important when it's time to choose a RAM kit, especially DDR5.
