Imagine a granny trying to have a look at a family photo and being told to "download the SanDisk Dashboard software to update the firmware of their WD Black SN770 SSD".

99% of users out there would not understand a single word of that sentence.

That's why people don't use PCs , they are using smartphones.

It's definitely not one of "the best SSDs" this particular model is trash. I was considering one but reconsidered after reading a lot of 1 star reviews about it failing prematurely.

People don't use PCs? That's interesting seeing how business is booming and it's hard to find certain components in stock.

Used one for years without issue. Your comment here is first I have ever heard anyone memtion there is supposed to be an issue. I also use multiple other WD Black drives and Sandisk SSDs without issues.

Microsoft is blocking Windows 11 version 24H2 on systems with WD Black SN770 SSDs due to a firmware issue, yet offers no clear guidance to users despite a firmware fix having been available since October 2024.

thats not the issue,, its installing 11 on the SN770,, the issue is the firmware they did not update,, wd has the update, might need to 1st install windows 10 to update the firmware with the WD dashboard app or whatever app they use now,

When originally reported last October, wasn't this issue thought to be restricted to the 2 TB version of the SN770?

At one time, I saw a table specifying which particular model numbers were affected. All were 2 TB.

I think the issue was related to a misconfigured Host Memory Buffer.

Supposedly fixable by updating firmware to version 731130WD? I'm still on 731120WD, but have only the 500 GB version.

Two PC's, zero 24H2 issues. Smartphones are ad machines. I can't stand them. At least with Windows almost all BS can be turned off or blocked. My S23 is used mostly as a phone.
