Hi,
not sure if this should be posted here or in the peripherals forum but I'll stick it here for now.
Just upgraded my wife's PC to these specs, the only thing retained from the old build was the RAM and the storage.

The problem is that typically her peripherals will disconnect and not work (the two instances it happens most often is on boot and when playing a game). Typically the device that stops working is the keyboard and specifically the microphone on her headset (headset with built in mic). Sometimes her mouse may not work (typically on boot) but more often its the keyboard and mic. We tried using a simple plug and play logitech mouse and keyboard and the keyboard issue is consistent, neither her mechanical keyboard or the logitech keyboard connects after it's dropped (and same with the mouse).

We checked the event viewer and saw there were some kernel-power 41 errors, as well as some yellow warning triangles for HIDs in the device manager (only sometimes). We tried updating drivers, updating BIOS, rebooting, uninstalling usb drivers.

Let me know if there is more info I can provide, Im stumped on this issue and all the parts are brand new (this is the second mobo we bought because the first one wouldnt post)

I would like to add that most of her USB devices are on a powered KVM switch and the peripherals work perfectly fine on her work laptop when she uses the switch.

I'd recommend moving each device in turn from the KVM and connect directly to the back of the PC. I know it goes against the whole purpose of a KVM (I use several myself) but we need to see if it's the drivers for attached devices or the KVM itself which are flaky.

I went through 3 or 4 KVMs on some old PCs before I found switches which were compatible with Windows 10 and DVI-D monitors. They ranged from cheap modern KVMs to older far more expensive office KVMs, purchased second hand on eBay.

I use a 10-way 19in rack-mount KVM when I'm working on multiple systems using one monitor. When available, I update the firmware in KVMs if they're several years old.

Just because a KVM works fine on one system doesn't guarantee it will work on another system.

Two more things you can try.

Disable 'USB Selective Suspend' in Power Manager:

Change 'Power Management' for all USB Root Hubs in Device Manager:

so I tried this and it seems like its a keyboard specific problem. I havent gotten to trying the microphone but the keyboard will disconnect and no other keyboards will work. Also not sure how the kernel-power 41 error comes in to play here
