Hello,
I am planning to update my GPU.

Current PC Specs
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
RAM: 32GB DDR5 6400mhz
GPU: GTX 1660 Super
PSU: Aorus p850a 80+ gold fully modular
Monitor: Asus1080p 144hz refresh rate

I will upgrade my graphics card so which should I go for, the 5060 Ti 16GB or the 5070 Ti ?
And considering that in the future I will upgrade my monitor to a 1440p one, so which GPU to go with and will it give better performance while using ray tracing?

You should consider the AMD options too, since they are often more budget-friendly and are still great in raster and sometimes RT too.

The RTX 5060 TI and RX 9060 XT typically go for around 450 USD and 380 USD, respectively, and are about equal in raster performance.
The RTX 5070 and RX 9070 typically go for 600 USD. Go with the 9070 between these two options, since 12 GB of VRAM is already not enough for some games.
The RTX 5070 TI and RX 9070 XT typically go for around 800 USD, and the 9070 XT offers slightly better raster performance.

You haven't mentioned where you live. I am just giving you the information about these prices in the United States.

Choosing between the NVIDIA and AMD options at these different prices depends on what extra features you want to prioritize. AMD is getting better at machine ray tracing, but is still terrible in path tracing and still lags behind NVIDIA in normal RT. Both have their upscaling technology, DLSS and FSR, respectively. The new FSR 4 is comparable to DLSS but needs to start getting more support to be worthwhile. It depends mainly on whether you are prioritizing rasterization performance or ray tracing performance.

All of these options should pair well with your 9800X3D in 1080p.

Given your Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 1440p upgrade plans, the RTX 5070 Ti is the better choice overall. It offers roughly 25–30% higher performance than the 5060 Ti at 1440p, especially in ray tracing and demanding games, thanks to more CUDA cores and a higher memory bandwidth.

The RTX 5060 Ti’s 16GB VRAM is excellent for heavy textures and future-proofing, but the 5070 Ti’s faster specs and better ray tracing performance will give you smoother gameplay and longer usability at 1440p with ray tracing enabled.

Your 850W PSU is plenty for either card. If your budget allows, consider choosing the 5070 Ti for a noticeable boost in performance and future readiness. If you mostly play less demanding titles or want to save some money, the 5060 Ti is still solid but won’t match the 5070 Ti’s power.

5070 ti avoid 5060 ti it's had it's bandwidth cut to x8 let it rot on the shelf.

If you're mainly gaming, given their current pricing, I would consider an RX 9060 XT 16GB, 9070, or 9070 XT over either of those. Similar performance for generally a decent bit less money, seems like a win to me.
