[SOLVED] Black screen with new GPU ?

Mother board: B550 Aorus Elite v2
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
New GPU: GeForce RTX 3060

I've installed the new GPU but all I am getting is a black screen.
PC works OK with the old GPU. Any ideas ?
The RTX 3060 is brand new.

In a review from 2010, your PSU is said to have 2x25A 12V rails. This means that if it still is as "good" as it was 15 years ago, it can provide your card with 300W. Probably not enough.

Update your amd chipset drivers. Then update bios to latest version and stronger PSU 850w. Which region you from?.

So my advise would be spend enough at least for a gold PSU basically it will save on your electric bill.

Higher quality PSU less power it draws from wall. Equals less wastage. a low quality psu will draw more power from the wall the nessary.

A 300W load's power draw from the wall depends on the efficiency of the power supply unit (PSU). An 80+ Bronze PSU draws slightly more power than a 300W load (e.g., 300W / 0.835 = ~360W).

An 80+ Gold PSU draws less (e.g., 300W / 0.885 = ~340W), and an 80+ Platinum PSU draws even less (e.g., 300W / 0.92 = ~326W).


Cost Vs bronze Vs gold is about 4 pounds difference per month to electric bill. On average 4 hrs per day for 30 days. Depending on how often your on your pc.

Also gold PSUs use higher quality components less prone to early failure.

The issue is ocz PSU 8 pin connectors for GPU can be tied to the same rail as CPU.

I used to have similar issues back in the day problem is if you overload one of the rails you can damage them.

Newer PSU run on a single strong 12v rail. That does most of the components. 5v and 3.3v do other things like fans and hard drives etc.

Yes but as you pointed out the age of PSU they lose capacity.

That and ocz says on there own label it draws max with both rails 552if it's a gigabyte card they can have a crack in the PCB near the slot there prone to failure there on 3000 series
