Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing a performance "issue" with my CPU and would appreciate any advice. Whenever I connect to Microsoft Teams (even just for short videocall), or when I’m transferring data over the network (e.g., via file sharing on the job server), my CPU usage goes high. As a result, the CPU temperature quickly rises to around 75–80°C for the entire period of the videocall or of the data transfer. the Fan hit to the maximum...Here are a few details about my setup:
  • CPU model: i9 14000HX
  • Laptop/Desktop: HP omen transcend 16
  • OS: Windows 11
  • RAM: 2x32GB 5600 Mhz
  • Network: Wi-Fi or ethernet is the same
Is this behavior normal, or is something wrong with my setup. Any suggestions on how to investigate or fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

How old is the laptop? Might want to see if the cooling solution needs a maintenance run, replacing the thermal paste and cleaning the vents. On a side note, have you checked to see if your laptop is pending a BIOS update?

Is this behavior normal
Yes. Processors from both camps these days are designed to run at or slightly above 100 Deg C without throttling. The only counterpoints you can try is replacing the thermal paste and pads, lifting the laptop up a little to allow for cooler, ambient air entering into the vents, while also undervolting the GPU/limiting power limits on the processor side.
