I have two monitors which i always have set to "duplicate". A TV (monitor 2) and a normal Gaming monitor (monitor 1). Recently, whenever i only turn on "Monitor 1" windows switches to "Extend these displays" and it adds a non existent display to the right side of "display 1". If i go to display settings and click "duplicate these displays" as soon as i click "keep changes" itll instantly revert to "extend these displays". If i only turn on display 2 this is not an issue. Itll only display 1 monitor (display 2) in the display settings. If turn on "display 2" after first turning on "display 1" windows will automatically go back to "Duplicate these displays". if i then turn off display 2 itll revert back to the "extend these displays" issue. It also seems to change to the "display resolution" when the issue occurs. this has only been an issue for about a week or so. Ive had my PC for a few years now.
Ive already upldated my GPU drivers and my CPU drivers and it didnt fix anything. Anytime i think ive fixed the issue itll just end come coming back. The reason this is annoying is because sometimes ill open a program and itll open in the non-existent 2nd display.
any help would be appreciated.
